ProBreed provides the optimal quantity, quality and ratio of important macro and micronutrients including calcium, phosphorous, copper, zinc and manganese. With young horses it is essential that their growth curve is steady - not too fast, not too slow. During growth, bone and cartilage are vulnerable as they are in process of making new tissue (weaker) and remodeling (e.g. growth plates closing etc) and both to much and to little nutrients can impact proper development.

Key features:

  • In the last three months of gestation and during lactation
  • High levels of organically-bound copper, zinc and manganese
  • Maximum support of the bones, tendons and joints
  • Rich in protein
  • Rich in essential amino acids

Copper, zinc and manganese have long been known for their critical role in the diets of broodmares and young horses. Copper plays a role in cartilage and bone metabolism and is involved in hemoglobin formation and in nerve conductivity and coordination. Zinc deficiency can result in reduced insulin levels along with increased insulin resistance. Zinc deficiency can also inhibit cartilage growth.

ProBreed is a protein rich formula to help support the growth of the foal during the mare's pregnancy and during its first year of life. The research indicates that protein intake can be maximized during the foal's first year of life to support proper growth, but then should be reduced during years 1-3 to support slow, steady growth. During the mare's pregnancy and the foal's first year, sufficient high quality amino acids benefit the horse's digestive system, growth, muscle building and overall health, allowing the foal to grow at a safe and steady rate.

Yeast Plus. Horses today are fed large amounts of feed concentrates, particularly sports horse and mares that are in foal or lactating. Their bodies need help processing them.  It is mainly in the small intestine that grains are converted from starch into glucose. When at every meal more grains are fed than the small intestine is capable of digesting, this step is passed on to the large intestine. Inside the large intestine, the acid value (pH) subsequently drops (acidification), causing the micro-organisms to become less active and causing poorer digestion. Active yeast cultures are the solution for this problem, as they stimulate healthy bacteria inside the large intestine and hinder malignant bacteria (streptococci). This prevents acidification (pH drop), which allows the micro flora to operate properly. Yeast Plus provides optimal digestion of crude fiber, intake of minerals, production of B-vitamins, an effective yield of the total feed and, of utmost importance, a reduced risk of colic.

Omega 3. Omega 3 fatty acids not only benefit man but are just as beneficial for horses. In addition to a glossy coat, omega 3 fatty acids offer a wide number of healthful effects. They are immunity stimulants; serve as inflammation inhibitors, and prevent the blood from clotting while prompting improved blood circulation. They also act as a defense against a host of allergies. This unique fatty acid composition supports the general condition of the horse.
